When I first joined Facebook, I thought of befriend anyone who is a friend of my friend. And hence I was befriended to 200+ people (well not a big no but yet). So, later I realize that I don’t want certain of them to know when I’m online. I can do that easily in Yahoo Messenger, probably in Gmail Chat, how about on Facebook? I’ve found a simple 4 step process to achieve that in Facebook. So if you’re ready to do that, lets get going….

  1. Firstly login to your Facebook account and on the left side you’ll see a link Friends click that and you’ll find a place called Edit Friends.

  2. Secondly, after clicking on Edit Friends you’ll be able to create a new list. Go ahead and create one. A pop-up box will appear which you can create the list. I called the list name as No Chat.Creating New List
  3. Next, while you’re on the Create New List dialog box, select your friend(s) whom you don’t want to chat and click the Create List Button.Select Friends
  4. Now on your right Bottom side you’ll see a chat window with your online friends. Click on the box to expand. There you’ll see the newly created list from previous step. Click on the green icon to set that list as offline.Set Offline Mode

There you are its such an easy step to create a list of friends which you don’t want to chat with. Write back if you have problems or have an improvement to this.
