It was a fine morning last Saturday when we were all set to go for a hiking to Nongriat, a village with a legendary Natural Living Roots Bridge, Double Decker. But something wasn’t right.
We left Shillong around 11 AM and on the way we stop by some beautiful spot. Since we went in two vehicle, and none of us knew the place. So, we relied only on the information gathered form passer by. It happened that the first car get different information from us. And the information given to both of us were correct just difference in distance. They, get the shorter route (1/2 hour from Cherrapunjee, while we get the longer route (2 hours) from Cherrapunjee. To worsen the scenario, there is no mobile network and we lost communication. In the end both party reach the place where we are supposed to trek till Nongriat. The other party get there earlier and hence trek all the way for 1 hour till Nongriat.
By the time we reach the place we were late by 2 hours. Hence, we don’t have enough time to go and visit the place. By the by we agreed not to go further and in the mean time the other party returned form Nongriat.
We missed the place. And we were planning to go again next time.
In such a condition we were very happy that we enjoyed the trip, and on the way to Nongriat via Mawlong we passed by “Kyrmen Falls” a beautiful waterfall. We had fun and are happy about everything.
That was the most memorable story.
